The Elder Justice Committee meets monthly for professional training, collaboration, community outreach, and case review. EJC Monthly Meetings

Meetings are typically held at 12:30pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Our Elder Justice partnership includes professionals representing over 40 businesses and agencies throughout Guilford County who specialize in home health, civil and criminal legal services, medical services, academic institutions, local non-profits, and County and City Government. We are always open to new partnerships and connections.

Elder Justice Champion Award

The Elder Justice Committee is proud to recognize those in our community who impact older adults' lives. This annual award is presented to an individual or company that has demonstrated efforts to foster a safer community for aging adults. EJC Champion Award Header

2021 Elder Justice Champion Award: Foreign Accents

2021 Elder Justice Champion Award - Foreign Accents Foreign Accents is local mechanic shop located at 5316 West Market St, Greensboro. After noticing that one of their long-time customer’s was experiencing a decline in cognitive function, their staff reached out to the FJC for help. Foreign Accents owner, Scott Beeninga, and several employees, extended their expertise and time beyond mechanics, offering compassionate care to their customer in need. Beeninga and his team worked with community partners to create a care and safety plan for their customer. Their swift action prevented abuse and financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

2022 Elder Justice Champion Award: Kevin Kattmann, Starmount Presbyterian Handy Hands Mission Group

2022 Elder Justice Champion Award - Kevin Kattmann, Starmount Presbyterian Handy Hands Mission Group Kevin Kattman created a Handy Hands group as part of the missions committee at Starmount Presbyterian Church. His efforts create safer environments for older and disabled adults, reducing risk of exploitation and helping older adults age in place.

2023 Elder Justice Champion Award: Attorney Mallory Horne & Mr. James Cole

Attorney Mallory Horne was selected for her outstanding dedication to providing legal services to victims of elder abuse and financial exploitation. Attorney Horne volunteers with the Corporation of Guardianship, providing pro bono legal services to vulnerable older adults.

Mr. James Cole was selected for his many efforts to go above and beyond to help his neighbors. He was nominated by the social work team at Senior Resources of Guilford. The team described Mr. Cole as selfless, compassionate, and hard-working.
