County Prepares to Roll Out New Online Planning, Permitting, and Inspections System

Current system will be unavailable August 17-22 as transition to new system is completed

Post Date:08/12/2022 2:30 PM

Guilford County, NC – Beginning August 22, 2022 Guilford County will transition to a new online planning, permitting and inspections system designed to improve the user experience by streamlining the process of applying for building or development permits, checking plan review status, scheduling inspections, applying for certain trade and environmental health permits, and making payments.

Beginning Aug. 17 through Aug. 22, online access for planning, permitting, and inspections will be unavailable as we transition to the new online system. All new submittals for Permitting, Inspections, and Planning are strongly encouraged to be entered before 5:00 PM on August 16, 2022 in order to avoid potential delay as we transition to the new system.

“The new system promises to increase efficiency and communication, maximize productivity and departmental collaboration, reduce human error, and foster a better constituent engagement experience by having all functions contained in a single platform,” said Erris Dunston, Assistant County Manager for a Strong Community for Guilford County. “Only the online experience is changing. The way in which the county issues permits and conducts inspections will stay the same.”

County departments participating in the transition include: Planning & Development, the Fire Marshal, Environmental Health, and Information Technology.
