NC SAFEKIDS: Operation Medicine Drop

Post Date:03/14/2019 3:00 PM
Official Press Release
For Immediate Release

NC SAFEKIDS is partnering with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office in conducting an Operation Medicine Drop pill take back in conjunction with National Poison Control Week. This program provides citizens an opportunity to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications in a safe manner. Providing an opportunity for citizens to properly dispose of expired or unwanted medications eliminates the possibility that these substances will make their way onto our streets and affords us an opportunity to speak to the public about the proper handling, security and disposal of medications.

This Take Back initiative will be held at the following locations during National Poison Control Week.

Please note the scheduled time for drop off at each location.

Monday, March 18th
Northern Guilford HS
7101 Spencer Dixon Rd
Greensboro, NC
4:30 pm-7:30 pm

Thursday, March 21st
Pleasant Garden Pharmacy
4822 Pleasant Garden Rd
Pleasant Garden, NC
10:00 am-1:00 pm

Saturday, March 23rd
Gibson Park
5207 W Wendover Av
Jamestown, NC
10:00 am-2:00 pm

Individuals taking advantage of this event can bring their medication in their original containers or bring them in a ziplock bag, which will be destroyed along with the medication. No syringes (needles) will be accepted.

Guilford County Sheriff’s deputies will be on hand to secure all medications and will oversee their safe destruction.

For more information, contact Det. S. D. Jarrell with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 641-5963.
